We welcome junior members – new juniors may join provided they are in school Year 4 by September of the current year. The Junior section meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm – 7:00pm at Brackenbury Sports Centre in Felixstowe.
Junior sessions follow the UKAthletics 365 programme which allows athletes to follow a set progression and be able to attain UKA recognised levels following assessments. This will hopefully move onto a structured programme of competitions (as well as existing fun runs and cross country) to enter.
To follow the UKA365 programme each junior will follow and record their training in an accompanying log book (cost £5) which will also give them targets to follow during our breaks over the school holidays.
We always provide at least two adults for each coaching group, and all members of the coaching team have met CRB/DBS checks in line with the club’s child protection policy, thus providing a safe environment for juniors.
Please contact the Junior Coaches for more information.
Junior training is currently taking our usual summer break. We will return on 12th September 2018 and will then run through to 19th December when we will take our winter break, including a social run in half term.
10.30am Outney Common, Bungay, NR35 1DS. A beautiful rural riverside setting, with plenty of mud! Fancy dress and dogs welcome. This is the antidote to Christmas.
Distances: 9-12: 1.5 mile lap | All others: 2.1 mile 1 lap, 4.2 mile 2 lap
Following yet another fantastic year the Benfleet 15 returns for a 29th time year in 2019. In 2018 the race sold out in record time and attracted over 650 runners who tackled the challenging route.
Using a challenging multi terrain single lap course starting in Hadleigh Country Park, the route takes runners through the undulating Hadleigh Downs, along sections of the Benfleet and Canvey Island Sea Wall before finishing back at the Country Park.
There will be medals and t-shirts on offer for all finishers.
The race is organised by Benfleet Running Club with chip timing services provided by Nice Work.
In addition to the main 15 mile race there is also a 1 mile family fun run open to all ages starting at 9.45 am, with entries taken on the day (all children under the age of ten need to be accompanied by an adult.)
The race attracts a large field and will sell out, so an early entry is advised. Runner’s must not run under someone elses name, anyone spotted will be disqualified.
