Social Events

Every year the club organises a range of social events for our members.
Most of these involve some sport, but some are purely social.

In addition to these events, we also have a strong party atmosphere at team events like ekiden and supporting the London marathon (among other things)

Quiz night

6 or 13 July 2024 (TBC)

Teams of 4-6 people (pre-arranged, or waifs and strays will be allocated on the night).

Slow Paul’s Summer Social Session

A Tuesday night training session hosted at Slow Paul’s nature reserve, followed by a picnic social

2 Rivers Run

24 July 2024

A handicap race from Landguard to the Ferry Boat Inn. All abilities welcome. Refreshments available in the pub afterwards ;-)

Ben Jacobs’ Run Bike Run

7 August 2024

A handicap multi-discipline race. Routes vary each year and you choose your own start time (last to start, who then finishes within the deadline, wins)

Coastal 10

Post-race BBQ/picnic/social – currently looking for a venue

One lap to ultra

20 October 2024

6 hours to run as many 4.5 mile laps as you can/want. Along with plenty of socialising.

Christmas party

6 December 2024

The format of this event varies each year, but generally involves fancy dress and running between pubs.


Food Bank Run

15 February 2024

Part of a national drive to boost food bank donations in February. Taking donations to the local Salvation Army food bank as part of a social run.

Awards ceremony

2 March 2024

A chance to celebrate achievements and progressions over the past year. No running involved!

Marathon meal

Exchange race tales with fellow runners after the Spring marathon season. You don’t even have to have run a marathon to relish the atmosphere!

Train-Bike

8 June 2019

Take bikes on a train, then cycle back. Naturally stopping at some watering holes on the way. A nice social ride to cater for a wide range of abilities.
