Road closure information – Sunday 20th September 2026
In order to safely accommodate 600+ runners, we unfortunately need to close some roads to traffic for a few hours. This has been approved by the council and all appropriate procedures have been followed.
We have done everything we can to minimise the required closures and the roads will be reopened as soon as it’s safe to do so.
The affected roads are: Maybush Lane, Golf Road, High Road East and Cliff Road. The closure will be in place from 9am to noon at the latest (we expect most runners to be clear of the closure around 11:15)
Why these roads specifically? This is the section of the course where competitors will be running in both directions on the road, which won’t leave enough space for cars to safely pass.
The race route is shown below. There will be some impact on pedestrian traffic, and where the course is along open roads there may be some impact to vehicular traffic. At all times when runners are in the road, they’re to run on the left hand side (ie with the traffic)
Furthermore, we’ve been made aware that the footpath between Coronation Drive and Garrison Lane will be closed on Sundays between now and the end of October for bridge painting works. This doesn’t affect the race but is worth noting for anyone intending to walk to support.
