The HADI’s trip to Felixstowe

Last weekend it was time for us to visit Felixstowe again,  run the parkrun and the Coastal 10.

After a rough crossing on the ferry from Calais to Dover, Dirk, Kai, Hans-Jurgen, Angelika and I arrived in Felixstowe late Friday evening!

We met Elke and her daughters Franziska & Josefine in the Hotel on Saturday morning, together we headed to Felixstowe parkrun which takes place on the promenade. (Since earlier this year parkrun has also started in some Germany cities).

Shortly after 12 noon we, Erika with her daughter Joelle, Christina with her mother and Sheila all visited Aldeburgh, a small town north of Felixstowe.  There we ate traditional fish and chips, walked through the town, visited the RNLI lifeboat station and by chance saw a performance by the Colchester Morris Men.

In the evening we were invited to dinner and entertained by several Felixstowe Road Runner members at The Hut.

The Coastal 10 start time was 915am. The weather forecast was for heavy rain and wind! On Sunday morning, it was clear Dirk, Hans-Jurgen, Kai and I would be getting very wet, so we ran as fast as we could so as not to get cold :o)  The route led us along the coast and the race marshalls were very motivating to every runner, which was much appreciated! We were very happy to receive our lovely medals, we were soaked through but glad we achieved our goals.

After a hot shower we met to say our goodbyes to Erika and Christina over coffee.

These two ladies always take care of the HADI’s and are now firm friends.

Running connects people!

Thankfully our return ferry trip was much calmer which I was very happy about.
