New Chairman
Hi all,
I’m really pleased to be taking on the role of Chair of Felixstowe Road Runners.
For those who don’t know me, like many members, I didn’t come from an elite sporting background. I started running over 10 years ago thinking I was reasonably fit… only to discover I couldn’t run 5k without stopping. Since then, through parkruns, club nights, races, volunteering, and the friendships formed along the way, FRR has become a big part of my life.
What makes this club special isn’t just the running — it’s the people: the support on race days, the encouragement at training, the volunteers behind the scenes, and the genuine sense of community that sets FRR apart.
We’re a brilliant club; we run hard, support loudly, marshal enthusiastically, and celebrate each other’s successes — often finishing up near tea, cake, pubs, or all three. Whether you’re at the front, middle, back, returning from injury, chasing PBs, or just getting round in one piece, there’s a place for everyone here.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped build and support the club over the years. What we have only works because people consistently give up their time and energy behind the scenes.
Looking ahead, I want us to continue building a club that is:
- welcoming and inclusive
- ambitious and forward-looking
- supportive of runners at every level
- and a place where people genuinely enjoy being involved
I also want us to keep growing participation and make it easier for members to get involved in club life — whether that’s running, volunteering, supporting, coaching, marshalling, or simply encouraging others.
If you’ve got ideas, feedback, or things you think we can do better, I’d genuinely like to hear them or please feel free to share with any of the committee.
Let’s keep running, supporting, and celebrating everything in true FRR style.
Thanks
Alastair (AKA Readie)
