Runner Profile: Haydn Wade
Thank you so much Will for the nomination, I really appreciate it!! I had hoped that I could go under the radar and avoid a nomination, but alas my dreams have not come true.
The running journey started for me as a junior joining the club in primary school. However, as I started high school the lure of tinnies in the park and girls was too much and I stopped running altogether in 2009.
It wasn’t until 2019 that I returned with great difficulty doing my first park run at Felixstowe. I did it in 22:48 and felt horrific. Being a glutton for punishment, drunk, and under the persuasion of my best mate I signed up for Ipswich half marathon that same year.
Ipswich half 2019 to date is the hardest race I have ever done. It was hot, I hadn’t trained enough, and I had to run walk for the whole second half. I ended up doing it in just over 2 hours, which I was very disappointed about. 2020 disappeared due to covid, but in 2021 I decided to give running a proper crack and rejoined the mighty FRR. I haven’t really looked back since.
Since 2021 I have completed at least one half marathon and a marathon every year and loved every minute of it.
FRR isn’t just a running club, it is a great community of many special individuals, and I am very proud to be part of this club. I have been very fortunate to make some great friends and even a couple of best buds in Mr White and Mr Catling.
I hope to keep progressing and get better with age, like the one and only Fast Tony. I will stay part of this club until I either can no longer or my missus chains me to shed, whichever comes first.
I would now like to nominate Stephen Munnings
