Kirton 5 Mile Race Report 2019

31st May again brought near-perfect running conditions and I think we can now finally put the awful weather of 2017 to bed.

I would like to thank all the runners and spectators for their continuing support to this event and hope that you enjoyed the day as much as I did. The Friday 5 Series is growing in popularity with Kirton once again selling out in advance of race day.

I would also like to thank Annie Woodard and her team of marshals who year after year give so much of their time making this such a great event. Annie you will be deeply missed stepping down after so many years. Good Luck, I wish you well!

Thank you to our sponsors this year Co-Op and Family Amusements for their support again. Once again, Kirton Scouts provided race day refreshments for everyone which is always very welcome. Blast Off PA systems did a great job and it is always a pleasure having them as part of the Kirton Five Mile race.

I’m also pleased to report that the Fun Run went well this year with a brilliant 111 runners taking part.

Thanks to Race Referee Joe Mower and Race Adjudicator Paul Felton for their continuing support for this event. It is always a pleasure working alongside both of them.

I am very proud to see that the winner of the 5 mile race was my brother-in-law and Felixstowe Road Runner ‘Fast Tony’ (Gavin). Well done to Philippa Unthank who was the first female home. Many of you may recognise Philippa from Felixstowe parkrun. Also a big well done to all the of the age group winners. The full results can be found at racesonline:

All of us at Felixstowe Road Runners wish you all good luck for the rest of the series and look forward to seeing you again next year.

Kind Regards

Race Director: Vince Calver
